Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes reportedly have plans to boycott this year's Oscars. As in major star no-shows. As in kinda like Cesar Chavez, but not. My first reaction? Really? My second reaction? Pretty please! But when I found out why, it was even better.
The reason Tom and Katie planning to stay home on Oscar night?
As we all know, Hathaway is co-hosting the ceremony with fellow thespian James Franco. According to intimates, the Cruise family is miffed that Anne performed an unflattering impersonation of the missus on Saturday Night Live last November.
(Note: It was hilarious, precisely because it was spot-on and not unkind in any way, shape, or form.)
So apparently Katie and Anne were previously friends. The couple even brought Hathaway to a Tina Turner concert in 2008 after she split from that creepy boyfriend Raffaello Follieri. (Wow. They must be close. They brought her to a concert!)
Yet after Hathaway appeared on SNL, the whole thing fell apart.
According to a close friend of everyone but me:
Katie feels they were really supportive at a difficult time so she feels let down that Anne took to national TV to make fun of her. Anne didn’t even warn her it was going to be on TV.
The supposed end result is that Cruise and Holmes are furious and won't be attending the awards in protest. My guess is that if this is true, the couple clearly has a problem. Lighten up, Tomkat! It was a joke! A cute impersonation! But I guess anyone that sues over rumors of being gay doesn't exactly have a sense of humor, right?
Are you upset that the star of Knight and Day could potentially be an Oscar no-show?
