David Schwimmer, who no matter what he does in his career will be forever known to many of us as paleontologist Ross Geller from Friends, is going to be a father soon. The actor/director and his wife of eight months, Zoe Buckman, are expecting their first child together.
Buckman, a British photographer, and Schwimmer have been together since 2007. According to Schwimmer's rep who probably got paid a shitload of money to issue this scintillating statement, "They couldn't be more thrilled."
Schwimmer once said, "It's really important to me not to be known as Ross when I'm 60." For that, I'm sorry for the rest of this article, but I thought it would be fun to revisit some Friends one-liners with parenthood in mind. Remember these classic Ross moments?
"You know, we should probably ask the doctor if she even knows how to deliver a baby that's half human, half pure evil."
"Can I borrow your blue tie? Emma spit up on mine."
(In response to Rachel asking if he can take care of the baby for the day) "Sure, just lend me your breasts and we'll be on our way."
(To the theme of the Monkees) "Hey! Hey! You're my baby/And I can't wait to meet you/When you get out I'll buy you a bagel, and then we'll go to the Zoo!/ Hey! Hey! I'm your daddy/ I'm the one without any breasts"
"You could plunk me down in the middle of any woman's uterus, no compass, and I could find my way out of there (snaps fingers) like that."
And, of course, one of my all-time favorite Friends scenes, which I think Schwimmer should revisit in order to properly help his wife during childbirth:
Congratulations to the dad-to-be!
