Lil Wayne didn't really waste any time getting back in the game after his recent release from prison. His new song, "6'7'" (or "6 Foot 7 Foot"), was released online earlier this week and it seems people can't get enough of it. The single features Cory Gunz, a new face in the Young Money crew, and is produced by Shondrae “Bangladesh” Crawford who worked with Lil Wayne on his hit single "A Milli."
Critics love it, I've listened to it five times today alone, and the crowd warmed up quickly when he recorded a rooftop performance of the song last night for Carson Daly's New Year's Eve special. Check out the video below.
Okay, so it's a bit hard to catch everything in this video, but you can check out the single and lyrics here if you read the description while you listen.
Cory Gunz's verse is fairly impressive, and people are loving some of the lines in the song:
life is the bitch, and death is her sister
sleep is the cousin, what a f-ckin' family picture
you n-ggas are gelatin, peanuts to an elephant
I got through that sentence like a subject and a predicate
It's hard to predict exactly how Lil Wayne's comeback will go, but it's sure off to a great start. If you weren't one of the lucky few at last night's performance and you simply can't wait until NBC's New Year's Eve With Carson Daly, you can catch him on Saturday Night Live with Eminem this weekend. This will be Lil Wayne's first television appearance since his stint in prison, and they're scheduled to perform their song "No Love."
Are you excited about Lil Wayne's comeback? What do you think of "6 Foot 7 Foot" -- is it better than his other music?
