I don't know if you've seen the preview for the coming 3-D film Yogi Bear, but to me it looks—and I'm pretty sure this is an accurate, professional cinematic reviewer's term—shiteous.
I mean, really, really, REALLY bad. Like, so bad I wouldn't watch it with my kids if they begged on bended knee while tears streamed down their chubby-cheeked faces.
Happily for us all, there's no need to endure a 2-hour CGI mess in order to enjoy an updated version of the nostalgic Jellystone bears. A 25-year-old animator named Edmund Earle decided the film looked ripe for parody, and he's created an eye-popping alternate ending which has been posted on YouTube.
Word of warning: unlike Yogi Bear, this version is most definitely not family-friendly. Behold the magic, friends:
If that scene looked familiar, that's because it's a fantastic riff on the movie The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, which Earle was watching at the time he decided to make the parody video.
Earle says he's been working on the video since September from the hours of midnight and 3 a.m. daily. He also realizes he's on shaky legal ground with the video, although he didn't use any of the film's actual footage:
I have no affiliation with the actual creators of the film "Yogi Bear." I googled the posters, watched the trailer, and that was it.
He created the video entirely by himself, with the exception of the voice, which he got a friend to help him with.
Something tells me Mr. Earle will be having no trouble finding employment in his chosen field after this. Since posting the video at 11:30 ET yesterday morning, the clip has officially gone viral, with over 700,000 views to date.
