It's not that your list of the "10 Most Fascinating People" hasn't been without flaws or frivolous choices before, and we're not asking for a list of people out curing cancer -- though wouldn't that be nice if that's who we found most fascinating? -- but some of the selections this year are just disturbing.

Justin Bieber is fascinating to who exactly? A bunch of pre-pubescent girls and boys (and frighteningly men) who want what he has to drive them mad -- namely his hair.

That's right, the most fascinating thing about Justin Bieber is his hair. Young boys who can sing (kinda) well aren't anything new, and Bieber hasn't done anything all that special beyond that. Without that famous flop of hair, he'd just blend in the with rest of the tiny heartthrobs.

Hopefully those locks are insured, because one bad snip could send his career into a downward spiral.

While not so fascinating, The Biebs does at least seem to be a nice kid, so his being on the list pales in its egregiousness compared to THE most horrifying spot holder on the list ...

Yep, all of them -- Snooki, JWoww, The Situation, and the rest of the motley crew.

Speechless.

The over-sexed, drunk, brawling guidos and guidettes are really among the most fascinating people in all of the world?

Really?

I guess people like the those Chilean miners trapped underground for 69 days just can't compete with some good old-fashioned fist pumping and smooshing.

Sad doesn't even begin to describe what kind of a statement that makes about this list ... or our society, because we know you're just giving us what we want (i.e. what will draw in ratings).

The number one most fascinating person of 2010 won't be announced until the television special airs December 9. Based on the other "winners" on the list, don't be surprised if someone like Speidi comes out on top.
