And another celebrity goes down for drug use ... Willie Nelson was busted for pot possession aboard his tour bus Friday morning.
According to TMZ, Nelson's bus was stopped around 9 a.m. at a Border Patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Tex. Officers reportedly smelled the substance, found it, and Nelson and two others were jailed. He was released on $2,500 bond.
It's not like it's any big surprise Nelson might be getting baked on his bus, but it seems celebs better start being a little more careful -- especially those who make their pot passion public. Law enforcement officials just may get a little extra satisfaction in taking them down.
Nelson was a vocal proponent for pot in the recent Proposition 19 debate to legalize marijuana in California. In September he told The High Times:
"A lot of people have realized that it’s a great stress reliever, so once you smoke marijuana you understand that it’s not anything deadly or dangerous. It can be helpful – it can also be overused. It’s not as bad as cigarette smoke, but if you smoke too much of it you can get congested. But as far as cigarettes and alcohol and all those other things that kill you, I’ve never heard of marijuana killing anybody. I’ve heard of a bale falling on a guy and that killed him, but… [chuckles]."
It was just a few weeks ago that rapper Wiz Khalifa was busted aboard his tour bus for pot possession as well. Like Nelson, he wasn't shy about his love for the still-illegal substance, even tweeting about it and talking openly to the press about his $10,000-a-month habit.
So which celeb will be next to go to go down for the doobage?
There certainly isn't a shortage of those who talk about their affinity for the still-illegal substance openly. Some who might want to watch their backs:
Snoop Dogg recorded an a PSA for the proposition with prop in hand:
Tommy Chong, of Cheech and Chong fame, was not so surprisingly very outspoken about the substance during the debate.
"Hey stoners, don't forget to vote for Prop. 19! Legalize it! Get it Legal! Let's grow up as a country and recognize the plant that can and will save the world!"
He already served time in the past for selling bongs on the Internet, so might want to pipe down?
Danny DeVito tweeted his support:
"Even if one doesn’t smoke pot one has to see the benefits of decriminalizing it! Still No Smoking and Driving bitches. Stay at the party!”
Perhaps no smoking and tweeting would be wise too.
Any bets as to which outspoken celeb will be busted for pot next?
