Angelina Jolie does not believe in Thanksgiving.
I'm guessing that she loves the turkey and mashed potatoes and stuffing and pumpkin pie. (I mean, who doesn't?) And she's no doubt got a laundry list of things to be thankful for. But the origin of the holiday -- the original Thanksgiving feast -- just doesn't sit right with her. (Hey ... we all know that the original illegal aliens were white people, don't we?)
And so, the A-list actress is rumored to refuse to celebrate Turkey Day.
According to pals, Jolie wants no part of the tradition:
To celebrate what the white settlers did to the native Indians, the domination of one culture over another, just isn't her style. She definitely doesn't want to teach her multi-cultural family how to celebrate a story of murder.
Now, I don't know for sure if the star's ban on the Thanksgiving feast is true, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Agree with her or not, there's little doubt that Angelina Jolie walks the walk.
A staunch advocate for gay marriage, she rejects the idea of marrying her partner Pitt until all people have the same right.
And while many have taken up the rally cry to help rebuild New Orleans after the 2005 devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the Jolie-Pitts have put their money where their mouth is. They bought a house in the French Quarter two years ago.
So while I will surely be stuffing my face tomorrow, I understand where she's coming from. If the Jolie-Pitt family chooses to opt out, I wholeheartedly respect their decision.
Do you think Angelina Jolie is unreasonable if she puts the kibosh on a family Thanksgiving feast?
