It's the Season 11 finals on Dancing With the Stars and tonight was all about fresh opportunities to move past old mistakes.
Our three performers are Kyle, Jennifer, and, of course, the notorious (and controversial) Bristol Palin.
No matter what we think about Bristol's presence, I think we can all agree that trying to kill her is the wrong way to go. So while the theme of tonight's show was "redemption," I will also work on redeeming myself by infusing my thoughts on the show with kindness. Or not. We'll see.
The first dance was Kyle and partner Lacey Schwimmer's "redemption foxtrot" set to Nina Simone's "Feeling Good." It was a good opening and set the tone for a show that was both surprising and lively. But the 27 was, perhaps, a bit on the high side.
Of course, Kyle's foxtrot was not what people came to see ...
Yeah, I have to agree. But they more want you dead than to fail. Pretty scary stuff. Maybe it's time to vote, after all.
I feel as though my hands are tied with her jive. It wasn't great, but it was fine. She doesn't deserve to be in the finals, but it makes me sad for her that there has been such a backlash to her presence. In the end, it's a dance show. Annoying, yes. Worth killing someone? Um, nope. Sorry, crazy people. She isn't great, but I'm not breaking out my gun or biological weapons over a dance show.
Unfortunately, it seems like the judges are also feeling sorry for her. Twenty-seven? Really guys? I give up.
Anyway, on to Jennifer Grey. Her redemption Paso Doble was brilliant, spot on, and perfect, exactly what we would hope to see from her in the finals. She even earned a standing ovation from Len and three perfect 10s, the only earned score of the evening.
Please let her take home the trophy. She deserves it. All will be right in the world. Just let her win!
The freestyle competition was dominated by Jennifer and her watermelon and by the information that Carrie Ann Inaba used to be a fly girl (!). This was shocking. Bristol was actually quite good at this and it did prove that her presence isn't totally out of left field.
And on that note, tomorrow's two-hour finale should be exciting. I am Team Jennifer all the way!
Who do you want to see win?
