As annoying as Gwyneth Paltrow is, what with her pretentious website and the idea that all moms should look perfect, I must give props where props are due.
The girl can sing.
Now, we all knew that she could sing based off of the previews for her new movie Country Strong, but singing in a recording studio and on stage are two completely different things.
I've walked away from concerts scratching my head wondering if that's the person I loved hearing on the radio. And they were legit singers, too (*cough* Taylor Swift *cough*). But Gwyneth got right up there on that stage last night at the CMAs, and strummed her guitar along with legend Vince Gill like she's been doing it for years. And coming into a completely different industry like that has to be intimidating. Like Brad Paisley said last night, "No one from our group could waltz into Hollywood and expect to be a star" (of course, he was referencing Tim McGraw, who's starred in movies like The Blind Side and Country Strong). Oh Brad, you're so funny.
You could tell that she was a little nervous at first (apparently she couldn't eat for like a week before the show due to nerves), but she ended up rocking the house.
Looks like the music industry has a new voice.
What did you think of Gwyneth's performance? Think she did well?

Wow, she was surprisingly good.
She's fine. I don't think you need that much vocal talent to pull off that song, though - all that twangy country stuff is pretty easy to carry.
She rocked the CMA's, but I wasn't surprised only because she first floored me with her singing voice years ago when she recorded a song with Huey Lewis for that little karaoke movie she was in, Duets. Her rendition of Betty Davis Eyes is pretty cool, too. =)
I am with hoticedcoffee on this one. She did fine but she's no Miranda Lambert!
