Seth Rogen visited Conan O'Brien's new TBS show on Monday and ended up discussing the hilarious details of his recent engagement to Lauren Miller. According to Rogen, he came in their bedroom ready to pop the question—only to find his girlfriend was in the closet, changing her clothes, and clad only in her underwear.
He told Conan,
I had already kind of started [to propose] .... I didn't picture it like this, and I know she didn't picture it like this.
So what did he do? Abort the mission? Wait until she was fully dressed?
I figured the only appropriate thing was to place the ring on her nipple, actually.
Heh. I'm guessing Rogen was kidding about that last bit, but dude, a little planning and this could have been avoided. I mean, good thing she wasn't on the toilet.
Seth, if you're reading, may I suggest a do-over? Here are a few memorable proposals from your fellow celebs you can use as a guideline for making the special moment a little more ... you know, special:
Seal and Heidi Klum. Ah, the couple who always does everything better than you. Seal swooped up Heidi in a helicopter and flew her to the top of a 14,000-foot glacier in Canada, where he had an igloo custom-built for the moment. Heidi said, "They'd brought up everything: a bed with sheets inside the igloo, rose petals everywhere, candles. Very, very romantic! There was food and champagne, and then the helicopter left. It was a little scary, too, because you're so cut off from the world. No trees, nothing -- it was hardcore. But I was ecstatic."
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Tom proposed on the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris after a candlelit meal at the Tower's fancy-pants restaurant, Le Jules Verne. At a press conference the next morning, Tom said, "Today is my favorite day in my entire life .... I'll never forget this day. Ever." Then, presumably, he pogoed up and down on a couch a few times.
Dean McDermott and Tori Spelling. Dean brought Tori in a horse-drawn carriage to a Christmas tree farm in Toronto on Christmas Eve. When they arrived, there was a romantic table all laid out and surrounded by decorated Christmas trees, where he proposed. Awww.
Jordan Bratman and Christina Aguilera. While these two were vacationing in Carmel, California, he filled their hotel room with rose petals and gift boxes. Each box contained a present and a poem written by Bratman, and in the last box, Christina found a five-carat ring. Well, that's just sweet, and uhhh, yeah. Sorry it didn't last.
Pink and Cary Hart. This one's my favorite: as Cary was making laps around the track during a race, Pink held up a sign that said: "Will You Marry Me?" When he didn't pull over right away, she flipped the sign over to say: "I'm Serious." He then quit the race and ran over to accept her hand in marriage. Yay for them and their rumored baby-on-the-way!
What do you think about Seth's proposal? Rushed and badly planned, or just made funny for Conan's benefit?
