Fright night is drawing near, and with Halloween falling on a Sunday, that means a whole weekend to get your spook on with frightening flicks of terror and gore galore.
But what to watch?
Not just any old slasher films will do for this hallowed holiday; instead they should be the ones that have stood the test of time and are proven to be nightmare-inducing.
So in the spirit of all things spooky, here is the list of the 13 Best Halloween Movies Ever (in no particular order):
1. The Shining (1980)
The haunted hotel in this flick has caused plenty of sleepless night for viewers for the past three decades now.
2. Paranormal Activity (2009)
Too real to ignore, this indie films makes horror hit home.

3. Carrie (1976)
One of the first strong anti-bullying messages that went mainstream. High school prom was never the same after the pig-blood incident.
4. Child's Play (1988)
Chucky! Enough said.
5. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973)
It never hit the big screen, but this made-for-TV movie about about demons locked in a fireplace has a big-time freaky factor!

6. Children of the Corn (1984)
Bone-chilling -- Nebraska where "He Who Walks Behind the Rows" roamed has never seemed safe since. Malachi!
7. The Exorcist (1973)
Classic, chill-inducing stuff.
8. Pet Cemetery (1989)
Don't watch this one alone ... or with your pet!

9. Inside (2006)
Gossip Girl Leighton Meester turns horror girl in this creepy-to-the-max film about what happens when kids sneak into a home that's not theirs.
10. Halloween, the original (1978)
Classic creepiness that deserves yearly tradition status.
11. The Descent (2006)
Caves, claustrophobia, and a cannibalistic force, oh my!

12. The Ring (2002)
A killer videotape sounds silly, but this movie is seriously chilling. Advice: Take your phone off the ringer while watching it.
13. The Orphanage (2008)
One of the more recent movies to make the list, but it's got sick staying power. There isn't anything much scarier than possessed children.

These are newer ones, but I love Wolf Creek! High Tension!
I seen high tension and I thought that movie suck. Rob Zombie verison of Halloween was much better then the orignally because he made his own twist on the classiced.
The Descent is a GREAT movie and it seems like a lot of people haven't seen it - definitely worth the rental!! I own a copy.
The original version of The Amityville Horror is a nice scare, too (the remake is horrid, but you do get a few minutes of Ryan Reynolds shirtless and wet - yum!!!!).
My favorite halloween movie is hocus pocus...not really a horror...but I just love the movie..!! :)
I love horror movies... period. But I saw Paranormal Activity 2 yesterday, and it was great! It serioiusly gave me the chills!
The New Friday the 13th is Awesome and I LOVE Wes Craven's New Nightmare (well, all of the Nighmare on Elm Streets, but New Nightmare is the one that actually caused me to not sleep well).
