Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake, two of the dorkiest-looking celebrity dudes I can think of, tore up the stage on the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon Show Wednesday night. They teamed up to perform a medley of rap hits, and not only did they pull it off, they created one of those magical Internet gems that you forward to everyone you know because there's no way to watch it through without getting a big old smile on your face.
Fallon and Timberlake started off with Sugarhill Gang’s classic “Rapper’s Delight” before moving on to artists including the Beastie Boys, Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, and Eminem. The house band for the NBC show, Grammy-winning hip-hop group The Roots, backed their performance.
I'd forgotten how musically talented Justin Timberlake really is, and I have to say, Fallon's pretty impressive in this too. Even though he appears to be attending the same School of Fake Tanning as Christina Aguilera.
“You know I really needed to practice. You know I can’t rap,” said Fallon, who also performed songs by Missy Elliott, Tupac, Kanye West, and Snoop Dogg. “I was in my apartment 'til 2 in the morning the night before doing (the) Soulja Boy and my wife was like, ’You’re crazy!”’
If you haven't seen this fun video yet, please enjoy.
Fallon said office morale is on a high as a result of the popular piece. “Everyone’s so smiley and running around the office like very confident today, because everyone sees the blogs and gets the e-mails. It just puts everyone in a great mood.”
