Mel Gibson Divorce Takes a Weird Turn

I think that it depends on what is the truth. And what are the implications for his ability to pay. He is certainly under the burden of proof in getting any reduction. Both parties have to recognize that if he has destroyed his earnings power to the point where he no longer can pay her and still have any money left, that he can't then give her money he does not have. And that it is best to not get to that point. So if its at that point, and I doubt it, then she might have to listen. If not, then he is being frivolous in his request. He is destroying himself, she is not to blame. He needs help, lots of help for substance abuse and perhaps psychological issues too. He should look to focus on rehab and sustaining his payments. Picking a fight with his ex over payments in court is consistent with a self destruction course. I think of Brave Heart when I see him and what he is actually doing in his life is tarnishing the image... Buck up Mel, we would all like to see you get it back together....

She shouldn't receive anything. It's outrageous that in the 21st century we're still using alimony to support perfectly healthy ex-spouses, most often ex-wives. I can see a 6 months or a 12 months transition period but anything more than that is just insane. I'm a woman and find this practice disgusting; almost as if the men we used to be married to are now paying us women a "previous-user" fee after a divorce... What the heck ladies, get a job, better yet, save up money while married, have a separate savings account just in case, both of you should. Marriage is wonderful if it works out but rich men who marry those bimbos are so incredibly stupid. Seriously. You honestly think Oksana would've been with Mel Gibson if it wasn't for his money?? Now she's got what she wanted to begin with. He's stupid for sure but she's greedy and manipulative, and now she's using the "me, poor woman" card, I bet you within a year or so she'll write a "Tell-All" book and cash in even more money. Mel's ex-wife seemed to be a nice lady but the divorce made her greedy, she's now raising the "rent" she charged for the years her ex-husband could use her body. If that's not why she's getting paid this incredible amount of money then I'm not sure what it is. Who really gives a damn? People, get a life. There have to be more important things for you to be concerned with, than what some well off people do with their lives... Stupidity is ubiquitous and money multiplies its effect. 'Nough said.
