The second season of The Good Wife premieres tonight and I can't wait to see what happens.
When season one ended, Alicia (Julianna Margulies), the wife of cad Peter Florrick (an Eliot Spitzer-inspired character played by real life cad Chris Noth) was on the phone with her boss Will (Josh Charles) telling him that if she was going to cheat on her husband (leave him?), she needed "a plan." Romance and hot, simmering sexiness weren't gonna cut it.
Look Alicia, plans are way overrated. You don't need to figure out who your kids are going to be spending Thanksgiving with 5 years from now, just hop into bed with the guy. Have some fun!
Wait! Before you people go all "cheat, cheat, never beat" on me, chillax. This is a TV show we're talking about.
Does anyone really think that Alicia is going to leave Peter? Um, duh -- she can't! -- the name of the show is The Good Wife. And if last season was any indication of its chances for success (Juliana Margulies won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award), this show's going to be around for quite a while.
I'm watching it to escape my own life -- the reality of kids, marriage, work, and true Good Wifedom. I want to see a little action. Enough of the simmering subtext and secret glances between Alicia and Will. Just do it already!
No plan necessary.
Are you watching The Good Wife tonight? Do you hope Alicia and Will get it on or do you think they need to get a mortgage together first?
