Wyclef Jean tweeted to fans that he was hospitalized in New Jersey on Saturday. Diagnosis: Fatigue.
No doubt the guy's been overloaded as of late -- I give him that. Recording an album, bidding to govern Haiti, fighting with Sean Penn ... hey, if I were that busy, I'd want to crawl into the bath with a good book too. But hospitalized? Because he's weary?
Honestly, have you ever known a non-famous person who has been checked into a hospital for exhaustion? Are regular folks ever afforded the luxury of sleeping for a week while being monitored by top-notch medical personnel?
Is "pooped" even a condition covered by health insurance?
Yet, it seems that every other day a bold-faced name is checking in because they're, well, burnt out. I performed a simple Google search for notables that were reportedly hospitalized with the dreaded "exhaustion" and came up with quite a list.
Ashlee Simpson, Dave Chappelle, Susan Boyle, Bow Wow, Jennifer Garner, Mariah Carey, Colin Farrell.
But wait, there's more:
Eminem, Jay Leno, Bo Bice, Ruben Studdard, Lindsay Lohan, Samantha Ronson, Amy Winehouse.
Phew! Now I'm the one who's spent. Keep in mind that I've left out a slew of deceased (Michael Jackson) and no-longer-relevant (Liz Taylor, Liza Minnelli) stars, so in reality this list is merely scratching the tired celeb surface.
So what gives? What is this mysterious condition that causes even our heartiest luminaries to check in and conk out?
