That's right. Madonna doesn't spare the rod. La Ciccone aims to keep a tighter-than-tight leash on 13-year-old daughter Lourdes. Who'da thunk?
While debuting their Material Girl clothing collection ... okay, I gotta 'fess up: A freshman in high school shouldn't, under any circumstances, have a fashion collection. But I digress. While debuting their Material Girl collection, Mamma Madonna told In Touch that Lola is forbidden to dye her hair until she's 14, the teen's clothing is up for scrutiny, and that dating is out of the question.
While the hair coloring age is completely random and inexplicable, the dating makes sense. But her mom's Madonna. I mean, Like a Virgin. The Sex book.
My interpretation? Madonna doesn't want her kid to be a wild child like her mom. A true practitioner of the do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do school of parenting.
And she's not the only one.
Many celebs are determined to raise their kids on the straight and narrow, even if their own youth wasn't exactly G-rated.
Kendra Wilkinson, ex-Playboy playmate and ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner, claims that she and husband Hank Baskett plan to be "very strict" parents. They admit that they’ll still spoil baby boy Hank and any future kids on occasion:
“But they are going to have to earn it, we’re not just going to hand it to them. Most importantly, they have to keep good grades because school comes first and then everything else after that."
No Doubt's Gwen Stefani has two boys with rocker hubby Gavin Rossdale. And she's taking a page from her own mom and dad:
"I was thinking today when I was driving, 'How am I going to make sure that Kingston never does anything bad and doesn't get arrested?' I was thinking, 'How did I stay out of trouble?' And I know it's just because my parents are so strict. I mean, I'm still scared of them!"
Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham reportedly keeps a "punishment chair" in her house. (Honestly? She scares the bejesus out of me. I'd behave. No chair needed, thank you.)
But singer Katy Perry's mom and dad really lay it on the line. According to the California Gurl, her parents were strict with her because they didn't want her to "turn out like a prostitute."
Maybe that's Madonna's thinking.
What do you think? Is Madonna frightened that Lourdes will turn out just like her mom?
