Randy and Evi Quaid and Other Bad Couples

Randy QuaidLong-time couple Randy Quaid and his wife Evi are racking up a pretty big-time rap sheet. This weekend they were arrested on felony burglary charges.

The situation sounds a little strange because they were arrested for squatting in a house they used to own. But the current property owner, who called the cops, produced paperwork that he had purchased it from another person who had purchased it from the Quaids in 2007.

The owner claims they did $5,000 worth of damage, and Evi was also charged with resisting arrest. Bail has been set at $50,000 for each Quaid.

If that's all there was to the couple's story, then one may suspect some sort of arrangement gone bad between the Quaids and the homeowner, and that's entirely possible. But this isn't the first time the couple has faced felony charges.

Last year they were charged with felony burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy. While those charges were eventually dropped, Evi was placed on probation for three years.

They also were embattled in a mess with the Actors' Equity Association that began in 2007 when Randy was banned for "oddball" behavior. As a result the couple started threatening people within the organization, and restraining orders were placed against them.

So what's wrong? Surely two people can't just be misunderstood that many times?

Maybe it's drugs or financial stress? Maybe it's mental illness? Or perhaps it's just the combination of the two personalities together that feed and fuel their bad behavior?

We've certainly seen other celebrity couples who seem to be bad news for one other. While sometimes a loving partner helps save or lift a person up, other times they just take each other down.

A few others from recent times that come to mind:

Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love

Tareq and Michaele Salahi

Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag

Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown

Have you ever been in a relationship where you felt like you pulled each other down in negative ways?
