Lady Gaga herself is often naked, but her personal life? Not so much. Now, a new unauthorized biography, Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga, threatens to bare all that the mega-pop star holds private.
New York Post reporter Maureen Callahan, author of the book, never interviewed the 24-year-old star, choosing instead to focus on her entourage. Here are three shocking details we learn about Gaga's life from the people closest to her:
1. Gaga has serious food issues likely stemming from pressure by the entertainment industry to be stick-thin. According to the book, she will only eat salads, deli meat, cheese, hummus, and grilled chicken -- and if you look at photos of the skinny star, you can see that's probably true. If she eats something fried, she says she "splurged."
So how does she keep her energy up for those crazy dance numbers with so few calories? Callahan says she'd check into the hospital for an "IV bag filled with saline and electrolytes and a B-12 shot for energy."
2. Gaga is incredibly needy and had to hire someone to sleep with her -- not sexually -- so she wouldn't ever have to be alone.
3. Gaga has major body insecurities. She reportedly hates her nose. She was upset (before signing a record deal) because she didn't have the right look and no one was "looking at her." And once, before a major photo shoot, she dropped 20 pounds.
Will you read Poker Face? Do you think there's any truth to these allegations?
