In very sad news, Nancy Dolman, wife to actor and comedian Martin Short, passed away on Saturday in their Pacific Palisades home. RadarOnline had the first reports of Dolman's death, but no new information as to the cause of death has been forthcoming.
Emergency service vehicles were called to the home at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, but reportedly no one was removed via ambulance, so the assumption is she died in the home. Dolman did suffer from cancer in 2007, but underwent surgery for a tumor found in her groin. But there is no official report that Dolman was still battling the disease.
Martin Short has not made a statement at this time, three days later.
Dolman, an actress in her own right, played Annie on the hilarious, ahead of its time sitcom Soap in the early 1980s. She and Short married in 1980 and she retired to start a family in 1985. The couple's children are Katherine, 27, Oliver, 24, and Henry, 20.
Interestingly, the comedian went outside his comfort zone in last season's Damages, where he blew me away as a shark of a lawyer with a secret -- or twelve. Short has been nominated for an Emmy for this divergent role, and let's hope he will still attend, and enjoy the moment of recognition for his immense talent.
