Moss, solo once againBad news: Elisabeth Moss and Fred Armisen, the Mad Men and Saturday Night Live stars, have officially split after a mere 10 months of marriage. I don't know them ... have never even met them. So why should this make me blue?
I think it's because it's kind of like the cool couple you thought should be together in high school didn't quite make it. Not Best-Looking and Best-Dressed kind of cool. More like Class Clown and Best Artist cool. The merger of the plucky Peggy Olson and hilarious Armisen seemed like a match made in heaven. Who wouldn't want to be invited to a dinner party at their house?
The dissolution of this short-lived union isn't the only one that got me down. Other famous Hollywood breakups have also tugged at my heartstrings:
Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins
Twenty-three years and two kids is truly nothing to sneeze at. They seemed to be joined at the hip, didn't they? The duo appeared to be as committed to righting social wrongs as they were to acting.
Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes
Parents to two children as well as film collaborators, the Hollywood power couple was together for almost seven years. And yeah, I loved Revolutionary Road.
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe
Seven years and two kids. (Am I smelling a pattern here?). I thought that the pair were one of the few couples who are lucky enough to find lasting love early in life. Sigh ... I was wrong.
What about you? Are there any Hollywood breakups that make you sad?
