Today is the 71st anniversary of the classic movie The Wizard of Oz starring Judy Garland, and while the movie has long been beloved by generations of kids, it's also found a big audience in the gay community.
I remember bringing my 4-year-old niece to see the movie on the big screen on a Saturday afternoon -- she was the only child in the theatre. It was overflowing with gay guys who loudly sang along to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," "Ding Dong the Witch Is Dead," and every other tune. It was the most fun I've ever had watching the film.
There's even a gay re-cut trailer (warning: contains bad language):
What's your favorite Wizard of Oz memory?
