'The Real Housewives of D.C.': Countdown to Drama in the District

Real Housewives of D.C.I am unabashedly excited for the premiere of The Real Housewives of Washington, D.C., this Thursday.

First, just given the fact that it's one of Bravo's Housewives series, you know it's going to be good (or at least good in that I-can't-believe-I'm-watching-this-crap-but-can't-stop way). Second, it's set in Washington, D.C., where I spent most of my 20s, and I can't wait to see my old stomping grounds through the eyes of housewives.

After seeing how the other seasons in other locales have played out, it's interesting to think about the kind of people who would willingly sign up for such a show knowing all of the drama that's gone before for pretty much every housewife. Just who are these willing women and what are they in for?

As a group, they're impressive. In fact, "housewife" doesn't seem to be a fitting term for any of them.
They're not a bunch that spends their days at the gym and lounging by the pool followed by the strenuous swigging of chardonnay over lunch. Rather they boast lofty careers and extensive involvement in their communities.
But given their selection for the show and willingness to appear on it, we can only assume/hope that there's a little more than meets the eye when it comes to the D.C. dames.
Here's a bit about each housewife based on what we know so far:
Catherine OmmanneyCatherine Ommanney
Profession: Interior decorator and writer. She has a book, Inbox Full, due out this fall about her sexy single life before marriage.
Children: Daughters Jade and Ruby
Tidbit: She once had a "long and lovely" kiss with Prince Harry after a night of drinking.
Prediction: She's going to be my favorite housewife to watch ... and the spelling of her name is going to give me fits when I write recaps of the season.
Lynda ErkiletianLynda Erkiletian
Profession: Founder of a top modeling agency.
Children: Single mother of four to Aaron, Jessica, Mihran, and Sam
Tidbit: She is dating a "much" younger man named Ebong; and one of the other Housewives' husbands recently threw a glass of wine in her face.
Prediction: Her love life will be the most interesting.
Michaele SalahiMichaele Salahi
Profession: She and her husband founded America's Polo Cup and run a winery.
Children: None
Tidbit: She and her husband, Tareq, are the ones who snuck into the White House.
Prediction: She will be the instigator of the drama and may factor high on the annoyance scale.
Mary Schmidt AmonsMary Schmidt Amons
Profession: Founder of two fashion-related charities -- Labels for Love and The District Sample Sale.
Children: Lolly, Ryan, Alexandra, Meghan, and Matt
Tidbit: She is the granddaughter of famous radio personality Arthur Godfrey and seems a little worried the Salahis and their White House hijinks will steal her thunder.
Prediction: I will envy her wardrobe the most.
Stacie Scott TurnerStacie Scott Turner
Profession: Real estate mogul and founder of Extra-Ordinary Life, a philanthropy to assist young girls in foster care.
Children: Jacob and Catherine
Tidbit: She has an MBA from Harvard.
Prediction: She will be the voice of reason ... if there is such a thing when it comes to Housewives.
