All the spoilers and speculation that predicted Ali Fedotowsky would end up alone were WRONG! Instead of getting jilted, she got engaged to Roberto Martinez.
Even leading up to the final moments, I had my doubts.
During the family visits, her family clearly favored Roberto (did you see her sweet mom cry?), and he seemed at ease with them. But while he expressed his love for Ali, he still didn't seem 100 percent about his feelings toward her.
Ali, however, was certain. So certain that she bucked traditional Bachelorette protocol (once again) and sent Chris home the night before the final rose ceremony.
"I'm in love with somebody else," she told him. "I have to let you go here and not wait till tomorrow."
Poor, sweet Chris was heartbroken, but comforted by a rainbow that appeared shortly afterwards. He took it as a sign from his deceased mother that she was proud of him for taking a risk and that he would find love one day.
I so vote for him as the next Bachelor. They will be inundated with women wanting to be on the show if that's the case. He truly seems like a great guy.
Then we saw Ali continue to profess her love for Roberto to the cameras, while Roberto continued to express his uncertainty.
I fully expected him to walk off the boat and tell Ali thanks but no thanks.
But he didn't! He loves her! He proposed!
"You told me how important it was for your husband to love you unconditionally and to always be by your side no matter what," he said. "I want to be that man for you. I want to make you laugh. I want to make you smile. I want to make sure you wake up every morning for the rest of your life knowing that you are so, so loved."
And then, on one knee: "Will you marry me?"
On the After the Final Rose show, Ali was glowing (and her hair looked great, as opposed to last week) and seemed so incredibly happy.
Frank was supposed to be there to explain his actions, but backed out at the last minute. Disappointing, but ... who cares about Frank? Ali is engaged to hotter-than-hell Roberto now!
Chris did appear and thanked Ali for helping him open up to love.
"As much as I wanted to be the one, it takes two," Chris said. "You can't force it."
Finally, Roberto came out, and the happy couple appeared together for the first time in public. They talked about their life since their engagement (seeing movies simultaneously while on opposite sides of the country) and how they already have an apartment together in San Diego and will be living together soon.
As for a wedding? They say perhaps next summer, or even next spring if Roberto has his way.
Whether they will stay together or not in the "real" world is unknown, but for now, I'm glad Ali got her happy ending ... and a helicopter ride to Catalina as a send-off from the show.
Were you shocked by Ali Fedotowsky's engagement on The Bachelorette last night? Do you think they will stay together and actually get married?
