It's the episode the producers have been alluding to all season: In Episode 8 of Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami, Kourtney Kardashian's baby daddy Scott Disick puts his fist through a bathroom mirror in a drunken rage and is rushed to the hospital.
And for once Kourtney isn't by his side, endlessly making excuses for him being the biggest loser of all time. Nope, she's with her baby, Mason, and Kim K. And she's not going to let Scott see his son until he gets help.
Watching Kourtney nag Scott week after week about his late-night partying, shirking his daddy responsibilities, and stealing wine bottles to no avail was, frankly, getting old. So, it was an enormous relief last night to see her finally lay down the line for the safety of her son: Until Scott "works on himself" (translation: gets his butt to rehab), he will not get to see his son. In an emotional moment, she tells her jerk boyfriend:
I love Mason more than I love you.
Yet, mere hours later she almost caves in -- driving to the hospital, baby in tow, to see Scott after his surgery (which, whoa, why did they have to show it in such graphic detail?). Really, Kourtney?
Luckily, it's Kim to the rescue! She's able to convince her sister that the only way Scott is going to change is if Kourtney sticks to the conditions of her ultimatum. Kim is really caring and, dare I say it, a voice of reason in this scene. I almost forgive her later when she whineswhineswhines about not being able to find a boyfriend -- almost.
Haters of this show love to complain that it's entirely scripted -- that Scott Disick is an actor without whom there wouldn't even be a show. Ordinarily, I see their point, but after last night's episode, I'm not so sure. There was some real rage behind the mirror smashing and real fear on the faces of Kim and Kourtney. If there is any truth to the sad Scott situation, I hope Kourtney sticks to her guns for the sake of her son.
And if she doesn't, it looks like Kris Jenner is going to have something to say about it next week.
Do you think Kourtney will keep Mason away from Scott? Do you think Scott can change? Or do you think the whole thing is made up?
