Gwyneth Paltrow Croons Country Tune

cowboy hatYee haw, Gwyneth Paltrow is going country. She's starring as a fallen country music singer in a new movie titled Country Strong and has released a new song by the same name.

Also starring in the film are Tim McGraw, who plays Paltrow's husband, Garrett Hedlund, and Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl fame, who plays a beauty-queen-turned-singer.

I have a hard time picturing the city-chic queen of GOOP gettin' down and convincingly playing a country girl. She's a good actress, but Pilates and macrobiotic diets are a long way from honky tonks and hillbillies.

As for the song, which was released today, see what you think ...

Videos of her performance that were posted earlier today on the web have been removed, but you can at least hear Gwyneth croon here.

I've got to give it up for her; she's good. Though I'm often a little embarrassed to admit it, I actually like country music. Blame it on my Nebraska roots, but I do -- and I like this.

Lest you've forgotten her previous singing experience, here's a clip from when she sang with Huey Lewis in the 2000 movie Duets.

I'd say she's gotten better.

So what do y'all think -- do you like Gwyneth Paltrow's new song? Do you think she'll be believable as a country girl?
