Whoa! (Had to do it, sorry.)
Joey Lawrence is heading back to the small screen on ABC Family's sitcom Melissa and Joey next month. The Melissa is none other than another former teen actor, Melissa Joan Hart.
The kids are all grown up and playing opposite each other with Joey Lawrence as a (hot?) manny. Since Lawrence has two of his own kids at home with wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson, he won't have to go all method to get into character.
Joey Lawrence told PopEater that even though he's grown up, he's keeping the "y" instead of going as Joe. Or as he put it, he doesn't need to drop a letter in his name to be mature:
I never did that. I don't know why people do it. It just feels very forced and fake to me. It's like, "Okay, I'm grown up now, so I'm going to drop the 'y' from my name." If you're going to grow up then for God's sake just grow up.
The 34-year-old actor recently starred in the movie My Fake Fiancee with Joan Hart, and felt they had such great chemistry together they should shop around for a pilot. Voila, Melissa and Joey was born. You can check the twosome out on ABC Family on August 17.
