mark ruffalo incredible hulkMark Ruffalo will be the third actor to transform into The Incredible Hulk in the series after a dramatic ousting of former Hulk, Edward Norton. While Norton claims it was a financial decision, the studio claims the actor was not a team player. Ouch.

Eric Bana was the first actor to play Hulk (or technically, Bruce Banner) in 2003, although I had a hard time remembering that movie even coming out -- did you? 

With three actors in as many films, you have to wonder why it's so hard to keep a Hulk happy. Or is the studio just using up the green men and tossing them aside?

Marvel announced Ruffalo as the new Hulk at Comic Con this weekend (which apparently is the place to be) when they unveiled the cast of the studio's new film, The Avengers. Other exciting cast members include Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Samuel Jackson, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth.

From indie darling to superhero, I'm psyched to see Ruffalo in this role. His depth of character will surely make this comic book superhero into a real nuanced, tortured man. Bring it on, Marvel!
