A ticket to chill.Think back to when you were a kid. One of the best things I did was go to the movies with my friends. Good bonding, good movies, and even better -- free AC. The colder, the better. (I am from Florida ...)
With the heat wave that is making New York and the rest of the country feel like a sauna, it sure seems like the time to take a hint from kids and hit the theater.
Angelina Jolie's new movie Salt is playing and so is Ramona and Beezus. Two really great choices. And, if you haven't yet seen Inception, that's a good one to catch too. But movies aren't cheap, especially if there's a family to consider. Cheap movie tickets would sure be nice.
Here are our LearnVest tips to save money at the movies.
1.) Harness Social Media for Movie Rewards.
Fandango offers chances to win free movie tickets to its followers on Twitter. Those who participate in Movie Review Monday -- in which Fandango followers tweet movie reviews with rhymes in them -- are in the running for two free tickets.
2.) Use Your Connections.
The AAA club is good for more than peace of mind when you’re on the road or discounts when you’re staying at hotels: If you’re a member (which costs $64 per year), leverage that connection for movie discounts.
3.) Shop Around for Your Matinee.
Consider some of AMC’s value-priced programs, including AMC Weekday Escape and A.M.Cinema, which has deals on shows that start before noon. We like this for those with more flexible work schedules.
Happy watching! (Um, can we come with you?)

I remember when the early shows were $2.50 and we had a couple of theatres that didn't show newly released shows so it was only 50 cents to go, $1 before they closed. I think they are $5 now and regular price is around $8. My husband took my daughter to see Toy Story 3, the early show, he said he paid more for popcorn and pop then he did to see the movie.
thanks!
My son got a free movie ticket thru his elementary school's reading program...our town has $1 movies Tuesday morning AND SUNDAY ONLY (July 25th) AMC theaters are having a special (get the coupon from their FACEBOOK page) for $1 popcorn and $1 drink. Honestly, I rarely go to the movie theater....I used to go when I dated & I think it was probably close to $30 for tickets and snack for 2 people...pretty much a rip-off if you ask me!
I used to go to the $1 movies with my friends as a teen. They were older movies, but that was ok. They were new to us. Now, it just costs a small fortune!
Do you have the link to AMC facebook page?
Cheapest price? Free. I love me some free tickets!
Free is good, but I have never found any freebies.
We have a dollar theater here in our town and we usually wait until movies come there before we see a movie. And Tuesday is half price day, which is a bonus, but it's usually pretty crowded.
I'm sorry tazdvl next time feel free to send me a message.....I hope you were able to find it.
