What if your toddler or pre-schooler loves a TV show that you hate? I'm talking the kind of show that is like nails on chalkboard. I did my time watching hours of Barney and the Teletubbies, ladies. I am out of that stage but I remember it well! I logged many hours with my girls watching the purple dinosaur and the purse carrying metro-sexual Tinky Winky.
A recent CafeMom discussion about Yo Gabba Gabba was pretty interesting. Moms seemed to love the show or hate it. YGG teaches good manners, so I can't say the show is bad. However, the orange guy on the show creeps me out, just a little.
I decided to go to the source for good toddler advice. Of course, that means I asked Toddler Buzz's Cafe Cynthia her view on Yo Gabba Gabba. Cafe Cynthia gave me her two cents on the show:
My kids don't care for it, which I'm thankful for. One mom told me that it freaked her out. Something about the colors, costumes and dancing. Another mom once described watching the show as "tripping on acid."
I can't relate to that, of course, but it really made me laugh. Personally, I'll stick to Miss Spider's Sunnypatch and the Backyardigans. Music is much more my style!
Talk to me ladies. What's your view of Yo Gabba Gabba? TrishinTraining posted in the CafeMom Newcomers Club that she thought YGG was "a little trippy".
Do you have a children's TV show that your kids L-O-V-E but you can't stand? Talk to me, all you bad mommies out there!

YGG is strictly FORBIDDEN in our home, LOL!
Our children do not watch much tv, but most of what they like..we like too. Blues Clues, Backyardigans, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Bear in the Big Blue House, My Friends Tigger & Pooh.
The one show our children like that we do not is Caillou..he is way too whiny and bratty and the parents never try to teach him any better!
I flipping hate YGG. It is creepy & weird. I always encourage them to find something else!
I can't stand Barney, Spongebob and Wonder Pets.
In answer to the question, I love YGG and we watch it together.
ARIANNA LOOOOOOVES IT!! She dances to all the songs and when i sing the songs to her she loves it. It teaches alot of good things. I love it and it is not annoying! I can watch it with her all day if i let her. The songs are easy to learn. When she gets older she will learn how to do the dancy dance moves with the people. It gets her up and moving. Its a GREAT show!! Also she likes the backyardigans but she would take YGG over it any day.
I HATE THIS SHOW YGG.... when I first saw this show I was like WTH (heck that is)... I said oooooo nnnoooooo! you are not wating this....My girls watch it to get a great laugh... I do not like them talking of laughing at people but they crack up at him.....
Ariannas_mama36 I love the Backyardigas I watched this today....
My 3 year old doesn't like to watch YGG!!! (Thank Goodness!) She likes to watch Wonder Pets and Backyardigans. I have to admit that I actually sing along with my daughter during the shows. (I think I've been brainwashed!!!)
my 14 mo. old LOVES this show. we only watch YGG, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and Sesame Street. but she loves all three of them! she will do the dancey- dance and all! I have to admit....as a mom, the orange guy freaks me out a little, but she seems to like it. and my hubby sings the songs all the time! lol
Not a fan of the YGG either. That guy is just too weird for me. I will watch that over Dora though, I turn that one off at all costs. Oh and I too watched the purple dinosaur. My son is almost 20 and my daughter is almost 2 so I had the freaky dinosaur and now the freaky guy in orange!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this show.
