Lindsay Lohan is fighting hard to stay of the slammer. Friday, Robert Shapiro, the attorney who famously represented O.J. Simpson, announced that he has signed on as LiLo's new counsel.
"I have agreed to represent Ms. Lohan on the condition that she complies with all of the terms of her probation, including a requirement of jail time that was imposed by Judge Marsha Revel," Shapiro told UsMagazine.com in a statement.
Shapiro runs the sober living home where Lohan currently resides before she's supposed to head to jail Tuesday. He opened it after his son Brent died of an overdose in 2005.
"Ms. Lohan is suffering from a disease that I am all too familiar with," Shapiro told Us. "Hopefully, I can be of assistance to Ms. Lohan and Judge Revel in implementing a treatment approach recommended by medical professionals for Ms. Lohan’s long term recovery and sobriety."
Sounds like a good match. And hell, if he can get O.J. off, then who knows what he can do for Lilo.
As for her post-prison life, her mother, Dina Lohan, says Lindsay wants to open a rehab center for sufffering starlets like herself.
"Lindsay actually wants to open up her own rehab center here and a couple across the country to help other kids and celebs so they don't fall through the cracks in this town. She mentioned it to me a couple of days ago. She's really growing up."
Do you think Robert Shapiro is a good attorney for Lindsay Lohan?
