The main trio on Burn Notice, Michael, Sam and Fiona, have been doing just fine on their own for the past few seasons. Or so I thought until this season's addition of Jesse, and not just because he's so nice to look at.
In last night's episode, "Entry Point," I found myself wishing they'd ditch the side job storyline -- which usually takes center stage for me -- to focus solely on Jesse.
Why? For starters, I'm really starting to love Jesse's character. His skepticism is refreshing and he's proven that he'll do his own thing if he wants, rather than always following Michael's orders. But mostly, I just loved the sexual tension and power play between Jesse and Kendra, the professional killer he was interrogating.
Was that just me?
Jesse sets himself up as Kendra's prey. She gets into his head and promises him $300k if he lets her go. Sadly, Jesse is so good at his job that he breaks Kendra. He makes it look like the people who hired her took all her money, which makes her all too willing to give up everything she knows. It's not much, but it's enough to keep us going for at least another episode or two.
I'm bummed Kendra's gone after only two short episodes. She was becoming one of the most entertaining characters on the show.
I'd be completely fine with watching a spin-off starring Jesse and Kendra. Think about it: at some point, Jesse will discover that Michael's behind his burn notice, he'll get upset and want to join the dark side, then break Kendra out of jail. The two can become the best professional killer duo ever, and have steamy love scenes in between all the killing. Perfection.
What do you think of Jesse? Do you like how this season's going?
