When I heard they were making a movie about the creation of Facebook, I admit, I was a bit skeptical. It's a website for goodness sake, how interesting can some Harvard nerd be?
Well, a trailer for The Social Network was released today -- the first with actual scenes from the movie. Apparently, the Facebook journey was pretty damn dramatic. Lots of rivalries, backstabbing, and maybe even a little sex.
The film stars Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker, and Andrew Garfield as Eduardo Saverin (both of whom also helped found the site), and is set to release October 1st.
The trailer hits on all the main points: Mark coming up with the idea and putting it into action, the power struggles between the founders, and the legal actions coming from those who claimed the idea was stolen. The story always sounded a little ho-hum to me, but seeing it brought to life ... well, consider my ticket bought.
Check out the trailer and tell me what you think. Did you opinion of the movie change after seeing it?
