If I could recommend a good beach read for this summer based solely on its cover, my pick would have to be The Starlet.
I mean, seriously. Is this not the best cover you've seen in a long, long time?
Fortunately, the inside of the book is just as marvelous as its cover.
The book opens with Mercy Talbot (a celebutante who bears more than a passing resemblance to Linday Lohan) naked, high on cocaine, and clinging to a fountain in Rome while paparazzi shoot photos below -- and it only gets more surprising from there.
We learn that Mercy's boyfriend, a hot leading man, has been found dead in his hotel room, and he's not the only one who'll wind up dead before this gossip-drenched murder mystery plays out.
Written by LA Times writer and Hollywood insider Mary McNamara, you'll have fun guessing who The Starlet's characters are meant to represent in real life -- and you'll be glued to your poolside lounge chair as this A-lister mystery unfolds.
And?
To give you a jump-start on your summer reading, we're giving away copies of The Starlet to three lucky readers of The Stir!
Disclosure: I received a copy of The Starlet to facilitate my review. And I can't wait to add it to the senior citizens' lending library at my YMCA -- I can only imagine the talk that will result among the SilverSneakers crowd!

The last book of the Twilight series.
I just finished "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" last night, and now I want to read the next two books in that series.
Twilight! That cover is HOT! II would love to read this book!
That is one HOTT cover! I'm currently finishing up The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks. Yeah I know, I'm late to the party. Next on the list is Catch a Rising Star by Tracey Bateman and The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
This sounds right up my alley. Right now I am reading "Fashion Babylon" which I think you would probably enjoy... after that, who knows? I have a huge stack of books on my nightstand.
twilight, and next hopefully the starlet.
II am currently reading Girls Trucks, but I just got done with The Lat Song... Such a good book. I think that I will watch the movie once it comes out on DVD.
