Pee-wee's Playhouse really takes me down memory lane, and only as an adult can I re-watch it and realize how many drugs probably had to be taken to come up with some of that stuff. But regardless, I always found it to be an amazing (aaahhh*) kids show -- one that both parents and kids can appreciate.
Sorry, "amazing" was word of the day.
And it looks like that Pee-wee and his gang of odd characters like Jambi, Chairrey, and Clocky are hitting the big screen again.
Paul Reubens (creator of Pee Wee Herman) is bringing his character back to life in a new film titled, Pee-wee's Playhouse: The Movie, and is developing the flick with Judd Apatow.
Remember now, Apatow is associated with films like Knocked Up, Superbad, and 40-Year-Old Virgin. Not exactly kids movies. I'm curious to see how their personalities are going to match up for a children's film with their backgrounds. And yes, I'm talking about Paul's '91 arrest for indecent exposure in an adult theater.
It will either be amazing (aaahhh) or a huge fail. The movie is set for a 2011 release.
What do you think about these two coming together to create the new Pee-wee movie? Did you watch Pee-wee as a child?
