Getting great book recommendations from friends just got a heck of a lot easier with the Visual Bookshelf Facebook app that's part of Living Social.
If you've ever used Good Reads, Visual Bookshelf is the exact same concept: Enter, rate and review (optional) books you've already read, are currently reading or want to read. You create a book list that your friends can also see, and ideally be inspired by. So much so that they pick up Cormac McCarthy's The Road to see what that four star rating is all about.
Another bonus of using Visual Bookshelf is the book recommendation generator. After the app sees what kind of books you like (and by pulling information from your FB account -- hence, all the "mom" recommendations I received) book suggestions pop up for you to skip or add to your "want to read" list.
The only thing I need now is a way to bring this list to the library or book store with me. I'm sure that's possible on an iPhone, but my two-year-old Blackberry isn't having it.
