Get this for eerie -- Robert Pattinson, who plays a vampire in the Twilight series, is actually related to the most notorious real-life vampire of all time: Vlad the Impaler.
Vlad III Dracula (known as Vlad the Impaler) is the man believed to be Bram Stoker's inspiration for his book Dracula. And according to the Associated Press, genealogists have proven Vlad is Pattinson's distant uncle.
"Tracing Pattinson's family back to Vlad was difficult research, but the pieces that unraveled created the perfect accompaniment to the Twilight saga," Anastasia Tyler, a genealogist at Ancestry.com told the AP. "Without any myth or magic, we find royalty and vampires lurking in Pattinson's life -- making his story just as supernatural as the one he's playing on screen."
Good old Vlad is thought to have killed more than 50,000 enemies, primarily Turks of the Ottoman Empire. His preferred method of execution: Driving a stake through their hearts.
Genealogists also found that Pattinson is related to Prince Harry and Prince William of England as well as, get this ... Stephenie Meyer who wrote the Twilight series. A whole royal vampire pack.
Like I said, eerie ...
Next up in the immortal tale: Eclipse opens June 30.
