But Jerry Seinfeld wasn't finished with Lady Gaga. He added, "I hate her."
Although taken in context, it appears it might have been a comedic opportunity rather than the start of a superstar war between the two New Yorkers with big personalities.
After Lady's bad behavior at a Mets game (while in Seinfeld's box seats) and the desecration of the Yankees uniform at last week's game, Seinfeld let loose on WFAN sports radio.
Naturally a baseball fan is going to take umbrage with a celebrity upstaging the game at hand. Whether Seinfeld's rant was in actual anger or as part of a running monologue isn't clear.
This riff makes it sound like part of the act:
"You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we’re living in now?" he said.
In his trademark stand-up schtick, Seinfeld added, "Why is she giving the finger? How old is the finger? How’d it even get to be the finger?"
Although the comedian does make a very fine point, funny or not:
"I'm not one of these all-publicity-is-good people. People talk about [how] you need exposure -- you could die of exposure."
Do you think Jerry was bashing Lady Gaga, or performing a stand-up routine?
