'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' Recap: The Housewarming Party That Shouldn't Have Happened

Real Housewives of New JerseyAll I could think about as I watched The Real Housewives of New Jersey this week was the fact that Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe have filed for bankruptcy and owe more than $11 million in debt.

It was hard not to, as most of the show centered around the Giudices' extravagant housewarming party. With the help of their "bitch" of a party planner, Elvira, they threw a party that must have cost many, many pretty (or tacky?) pennies.

From fire eaters and break dancers to Playboy bunnies carrying cocktails, guests were in for a treat when they entered the mansion that was lit up entirely with colored lights.

"Stop!" I kept screaming at my TV. "You don't have this money to spend!"

But spend they did.

"It's so over the top, it's so me, it's so gold," Teresa squealed. "Swarovski crystals. My house was totally transformed into a night club!"

I wonder if Elvira was paid for her services, or if her bill went on top of the pile o' debt?

Besides the anxiety-inducing excess, the drama this week was pretty light.

Kim G. and Kim D. -- both of whom have relationships with Danielle Staub -- were at the party and tried to stir things up by dragging Danielle into the conversation ("She's like parsley, she's everywhere," Caroline fumed when she heard them), but for the most part, talk of Danielle was denied. Jacqueline did take time to correct Kim G. who accused her of being obsessed with Danielle.

Speaking of Danielle, she wasn't able to cause too much trouble this week as she was laid up after having surgery to fix a botched boob job.

Some of the most interesting stuff happened on Watch What Happens Live following the show when Staub performed the song "Real Close" with Lori Michaels. Staub was more than suggestive about a relationship between the two.

Did Danielle Staub come out of the closet? I'm not really clear, but she was certainly at least peeking her head out of it.

Based on the previews for next week, this week's episode was the calm before the storm that's going to hit -- and hit hard -- next week when Teresa and Danielle finally come face to face again.

"Don't call me honey," Danielle is shown scolding Teresa.

"Is bitch better?" Teresa asks.

Can't wait to see what (or who?) goes down!

What did you think of this week's episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey?
