NY 'Housewife' Jill Zarin Harassed and Threatened?

Jill Zarin may have displayed some hideous behavior on the recent finale of The Real Housewives of New York -- especially with respect to how she treated Bethenny Frankel and Alex McCord. But that in no way justifies the threatening mail she and her family have received of late after her address was published online. In fact, the harassment has been so serious, that Zarin was forced to contact the authorities over the weekend.

Yikes! Did these harassers see something that I didn't? I saw Zarin behaving badly this season but nothing to warrant all the hate.

Zarin wrote on her Facebook page:

We are being harassed and threatened by a family from Chicago and Alabama. We have contacted authorities. I will block anyone who is linked to them per postal service law enforcement until they finish investigation. This is a serious crime and all evidence has been handed over. If you are involved in anyway. I suggest you stop. Enough is enough. It is NOT funny or a joke.

The harassment came on the heels of the finale in which Zarin and Frankel, who had been feuding all season, had a confrontational lunch to see if they could repair their broken friendship. (It doesn't look like they will.) All season Zarin has been depicted as the aggressor in the feud, so perhaps this is the reasoning behind all the threats?

Maybe this would be a good time to let the haters in on a little secret: It's reality TV! In other words, the situations are fictional; the drama scripted. The show's producers make Zarin (and the other women) out to be worse than they really are because if they didn't, there'd be nothing to watch!

Yes, Zarin was a mean girl this season. But that's nothing that she shouldn't be able to iron out with a little self-reflection, a good therapist, and, most important, some sympathetic producers. Look at how Ramona turned herself around -- she's downright charming these days.

Bottom line: No reality TV star deserves threats and harassment -- it's entertainment, people! Enjoy the trash and move on with your day.

Do you think Zarin was a mean girl this season? Enough to warrant the threats?
