Photo from bravotv.comThe outrageous shopping sprees and ostentatious home added up, and now Teresa Giudice, of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and her husband Joe have filed for bankruptcy.
According to RadarOnline.com, the couple has more than $11.8 million in debt (gulp!), which includes: "$5.8 million on various business investments made by Joe, $2.6 million in mortgages on three homes, and $12,000 owed to a fertility clinic."
They also owe $104, 000 to credit card companies and $2,300 to the phone company.
I knew they were having financial problems and that their home was in foreclosure last year, but wow that's a lot of debt!
I've always liked Teresa, so I admit I feel a little sorry for her, even if she did live lavishly without the necessary means. Clearly she and her husband haven't been living in reality.
Quick, write a book ... or better yet, record a song. Perhaps something along the lines of: "Money can't buy you things ... if you don't have any!"
Do you feel bad for Teresa Giudice and her money troubles?

No, I don't feel sorry for spoiled brats like that. And clearly they don't care, because this sort of debt is beyond what an honest person could ever pay back with hard work. They disgust me because they contribute to the financial crisis. In the end it's the tax paying community who has to put it righy.
The documents show they actually filed in October 2009. So this has been awhile in the making. Just wondering how and why it was leaked now. It's all there in black and white down to what they say they spend every month to the names of all of the people they owe and how much. $1.7 million just on the house they live in. zap2it has the documents on their site but I'm sure they'll pop up elsewhere too. 62 pages long....oy!
Yeah, I thought I hard actually read about this last year. I do feel bad for them; it must be hard living a lie for so long. I hope they get things back on track, they just had a little baby!
Are you kidding me?! Heck no I don't feel badly for her! She has spent waaaaaaay beyond her means, and is raising four spoiled little monsters. Her behavior is disgusting! Even if they could afford it, personally I still wouldn't respect anyone who lived a life that flashy and over-the-top with seemingly NO value placed on charity work or the community. Ugh. And knowing that it's all smoke and mirrors?! Horrible. Their creditors deserve to be paid! And those girls deserve a mom who faces reality, and recognizes their potential to be more than just "supermodels"...what about raising smart, independent and kind children?!
I don't feel sorry for them because they had to know they were living above their means, BUT she's still one of my favorite housewives. I don't think people should look down on or judge people based on their spending habits. There are plenty of people that live larger than their bank accounts!
UGH!!! "Money can't buy you class" taken from another housewife of NY; but it is true in this case as Teresa surely doesn't have the money and surely doesn't have the class or the money to buy it..
Sad state of affairs there in Towaco, NJ and too bad her spoiled daughters will suffer the most ; especially Gia who aspires to be an actress and model..but maybe her money grubbing mother is pushing her to do it so that she can live off of her daughter's income? Bottom line is "
You reap what you sow and you sow what you reap! " and now they receive the consequences of their actions.
Pretty judgemental woman for being a broke bitch! This coming from a woman who said she could never live in anyone's used house. Be nice.
Your kidding me right? Of course i dont feel sorry for these people. They give everyone from New Jersey a bad name espically Italians like me. They give the wrong message families everwhere and these networks keep showing these train wrecks on tv. No sense of reality, and no responsibility for their actions. Move into a duplex in newark, and start shopping at k-mart cause it seems thtas what you can afford..
How can I feel sorry for someone who just threw an extremely lavish birthday party and also gave a very expensive gift to an 8 year old when they knew they were already living beyond their means. We both work and had to scrape up the money just to take 5 of my 8 year old son's friends to Chucky Cheese to celebrate his birthday. I guess I come from not only a different part of NJ but a completely different planet than Teresa because I could never in my wildest dreams even think to spend money the way she does!
she really is a loser....clearly not thinking about her kids' futures.....
