Flickr photo by Nevada TumbleweedFor all the turmoil Gary Coleman faced in his life, his funeral is creating its own share of drama.
Originally, the actor's parents, Sue and Willie Coleman (who were estranged from the actor since the 1980s), were trying to have his body returned to Chicago for final burial. A funeral that was scheduled for this weekend in Utah was postponed due to their demands.
But after reviewing his will and other documents, they are stepping aside and allowing Coleman's ex-wife Shannon Price to plan the ceremony, according to CNN.
"From the start, Mr. and Mrs. Coleman's intention has been to see that Gary's wishes be honored and that his affairs be taken care of properly," attorney Frederick Jackson said in a statement. "They wanted to do things the right way, and they urge those still involved to do the same. The Colemans ask that everyone please treat Gary with respect and kindness. They feel it is time for him to find peace and let his spirit go."
Whether Price has the funds to pay for a funeral is another question.
"Our life together has not always been the best financially, and right now I am struggling to figure out what I am going to do for funeral costs," she says in a video on TMZ.com. "I don't know how I am going to survive. It's been a really rough while because Gary hasn't had much work because of his health."
While we mourn his passing, it will be a welcome day when Gary Coleman is finally laid to rest.
