Iliza Shlesinger was named winner of Last Comic Standing during the show's last season in 2008. Now after a hiatus, the comedy competition is coming back with a revised format and a two-hour premier Monday.
The new format won't feature footage from the house or involve challenges, rather it will be all about the comedy.
"We felt like the show should be a true stand-up comedy competition and it should be pure in that format," executive producer Jayson Dinsmore told Reality TV World. "So we thought that while the house episodes were entertaining and fun, the show itself should be much more of a stand-up competition series."
Dinsmore said the changes and the hiatus will make for a great show this season. "Honestly, I think it was on for so many years that the talent pool might have dwindled a bit," he said. "Taking it off and resting it for a few years gave us the opportunity for comedians to sort of see themselves again."
Craig Robinson of The Office fame will host the show. Judges will include Natasha Leggero, Greg Giraldo and Andy Kindler.
"I do not envy the judges," Robinson said. "They're doing an amazing job, but they have the job of judging their peers... And they have to be funny on top of telling people that they're not funny."
