Photo from BravoTVCall me crazy, but wasn't there supposed to be not one but two new housewives on season 3 of The Real Housewives of New York?
Sonja Morgan joined the show halfway through the season, and then it seemed like party planner Jennifer Gilbert (pictured middle) would be Housewife No. 8. But the finale's tonight and Gilbert has had very little airtime. And now, the The Huffington Post is reporting that she won't be appearing in the reunion special, which airs June 10.
What the heck is going on here? I want an eighth housewife!
Full disclosure: I really liked Gilbert (well, at least from what I could tell in her, ahem, three scenes). She's beautiful, has great style, has a successful career, and never, ever says a bad word about anyone ... and apparently, that was precisely why she didn't get any airtime despite the fact that TV crews followed her for three months.
She told The Huffington Post:
"I don't know there's anything I could've done differently to advocate for myself without looking obnoxious ... I found in a lot of situations if you didn't scream the loudest or say the meanest thing you weren't heard."
It makes sense, I suppose. When other cast-members are having hideous feuds (Jill Zarin) and scary nervous breakdowns (Kelly Bensimon), really, how could someone with this much class compete?
BravoTV hasn't announced whether Gilbert will return in the fourth season -- but she's not about to pull any stunts to make that happen. She said:
"It's not like I'm timid and afraid to speak my mind ... I'm just not inappropriate, and I'm not going to say something that's mean just for the sake of saying it. That's never going to be me. If that's what they're looking for, then I'm probably not the right fit."
See, Gilbert. That's exactly why I like you so much!
Do you think Jennifer Gilbert should officially join The Real Housewives of New York?
