Does your Facebook friend list ever look like old home week, and not in a good way?
I've wondered if I was drunk when I accepted a friend request from a certain few people, and can't for the life of me figure out how certain former high school friends snuck in there.
Fortunately un-friending someone on Facebook is drama free.
Unlike high school.
So how do you do it?
This is the easy part:
1. Click on their name on your friends list.
2. Scroll down along the left margin, and you'll see two options: Remove From Friends List and Report/Block This Person.
3. Decide which you prefer -- removing them from your list means they're no longer your friend and no longer have access to your page. Blocking them means they will no longer see you at all.
4. Enjoy the bliss of life without their drama.
The good part of un-friending -- Facebook does not send them a notice that you've un-friended.
The bad part -- they will likely notice.
Cue the drama.
Crap.
If they're annoying you because they're constantly playing games and loading up your feed, learn to HIDE those Farmville, Mafia Wars, etc. updates.
Want to vent about them without letting them see? Write up your status comment, then click on the "lock" icon below to customize who can and can't see it. Then hit enter.
Another favorite -- simply HIDE them. You're still friends, but using the methods for hiding those updates, you can also hide them. So they'll see you, but you won't have to read their vague whining.
Have you un-friended anyone?

I accept readers as friends, and only unfriend those who use their friend status to send me spammy messages promoting their business. That drives me CRAZAZY.
I unfriended this chick from high school who had started haunting every one my photos of my son with comments about how lucky I was because she couldn't have kids. I was sympathetic at first, but then spooked when I announced I was pregnant and she said she could "take one off my hands." So I un-friended her and removed her comments. A couple of weeks later, she noticed and started sending me messages of rapidly escalating drama. "What happened... did I do something wrong... why won't you answer me... I am shocked and disappointed... why haven't you written back??... I am so hurt... I am devastated..." and so on. I then blocked her and informed any mutual high school contacts of what was going on. Several had gotten the same treatment from her and reacted much the way I did. Anyway, eek.
Eek indeed! I've actually been considering a mass unfriending and making it purely personal -- close family, etc. because I can't deal with people's drama!
I have certain friends who do Farmville, Mafia, Sorority Life, Cafe World, etc. I block those applications but not the person. If someone has more than a few hundered friends he/she probably won't be able to figure out who "unfriended" them. My number went down by one last month and I STILL can't figure out who it is. Must not have been anyone that important!
I like the complete "hide" feature. I'm to nosy to unfriend someone completely. What if I wanted to snoop into his life? lol
Thank you so much. My little sister is ridiculous and wouldn't stop talking to my friends and getting in my business. My friends were getting tired and annoyed of her harassing them. I love you, I love you, I love you. (:
