Photo from bravotv.comThis week's episode of The Real Housewives of New York was hard to watch as Kelly Bensimon went from just quirky "crazy" that was fun to comment on to something much deeper and darker.
The drama started right back up again immediately. Kelly just couldn't let go of Bethenny Frankl calling herself a chef. The two were bickering back and forth about the nuances between "chef" and "cook", when Kelly randomly throws out, "Okay, satchels of gold."
What?
When Bethenny left individually monogrammed gift bags filled with beach products for each of the girls, Kelly found hers and cried, saying, "It's just so impersonal, it rubbed me the wrong way."
Then Bensimon called Jill and described how awful the trip was ("I'm alone on scary island") and let her know that she fears for her life and has been dreaming that Bethenny is going to kill her. She's not joking.
In a conversation over dinner she keeps telling people to "zip it" and doesn't want to hear what anyone else has to say. "White noise. It's all white noise," she says. Once, she randomly yells out "Al Sharpton!" at Bethenny for no apparent reason.
She insults Ramona, attacks Alex and can't even keep Sonja as an ally. She gets mad at Bethenny for attacking "her friend" Gwyneth Paltrow.
"I threw up the night before I came thinking Bethenny was going to freaking kill me, because she's tried to kill me so many times before," Kelly says.
And that's where I wanted to turn it off, because reality television was becoming too real. There is clearly something wrong with this woman, and to be watching her spiral downward just felt wrong. Editing is one thing, but this is a woman who really appears to need help.
The other Housewives realized it too and tried to calm Bensimon down, telling her they think she needs to get help and reassuring her that none of them is after her.
Of course, any calm they may have achieved is going to be blown to hell next week when Jill Zarin blows in on her surprise visit to the Caribbean.

This is one of the most disturbing things I've ever watched. It was clinical. Should be in a hospital training video with names changed to protect the insane, not on national television.
I already could not stand Kelly for her MEAN, degrading, selfish, violent, ugly persona, but now I truly just feel sorry for her. More for her children. They will have a rough life with this piece of work for a mom.
She needs to be removed from the show. Stop putting cameras in her face & start showing her inkblots.
She is absolutely crazy!! Bravo needs to pull her off the show- her kids should not see her this way. It reminds me of the last season of John and Kate plus eight- too sad and disturbing to watch. Kelly get psyciatric help- you are either schizophrenic or bi-polar.
This episode was extremely difficult to watch. Please Bravo, get Kelly the help she needs! I do not think less of Kelly for having a mental illness, but she does need help just like someone with diabetes needs medication. PLEASE get her the medical help that she needs.
I was really not liking her rude, erratic behaviour thinking it was just Kelly, but when she got more bizarre in what she was saying I started getting scared for her. Not fun to see for her family I'm sure and her to see herself. Hope the best for her. Glad Jill finally fessed up and realizes she messed up her friendship w/Bethany.
I am so happy that the amount of her crazy has finally been captured on video. The girl who doesn’t eat processed foods sucking on Blow pops, oh but wait that’s “fun” food so it doesn’t count. She is so mental; I want to see how Jill and LuAnn continue to defend her after watching this. Next week should be a mess too, so excited!
Kelly was exhibiting symptoms of a mental "break" which is typically induced by substances or a trauma...tI wonder if that was what we were witnessing?
It is sad to see someone experience a mental breakdown. Shame on Bravo for televising it. Kelly needs professional help. Her paranoia and delusional comments make me think she is paranoid schizophenic.

I think she is schitzo. She went into the kitchen, grabbed some gummy bears & lollipops & came back to the table a 5 year old. She has deep, unresolved issues that are somehow being triggered by confrontations with strong women.
Kelly is a classic mental case, she got problems, is there a Dr. in the house? CRAZY!!!
