Photo from theview.abc.go.comAnd I defended you, Elisabeth Hasselbeck! I believed your tearful apology to Erin Andrews last week, and I cheered when you said you called her and apologized ... only it turns out you didn't?
Quick recap for those who haven't followed the drama: Hasselbeck made some really offensive remarks last week about Andrews' attire on Dancing With the Stars in relation to Michael David Barrett, the man who allegedly took illegal pictures of Andrews.
"In light of what happened and as a legal [matter] -- and as inexcusable as it was for that horrific guy to go in and try to peep on her in her hotel room," Hasselbeck said. "I mean, in some way if I'm him, I'm like, ‘Man! I just could've waited 12 weeks and seen this -- a little bit less -- without the prison time!'"
The next day on The View, Hasselbeck appeared sincerely sorry and said her daughter asked why she didn't just call Andrews to apologize.
"So, thankfully, I listened to her -- she's a wise little girl -- and I did," Hasselbeck said. "So, I'm really sorry, and I wanted to offer that publicly too, even though I did follow that advice."
"I didn't speak with her, no. I never talked to her," Andrews told US.
My guess is Hasselbeck is going to come out and say she called, but Andrews didn't answer or didn't return her call or that she left voicemail or offer up some other technicality.
But regardless, if Andrews' statement is accurate, then Hasselbeck was blatantly misleading about what actually happened and gets no defense from me. Bad move, made worse.
At least Andrews doesn't seem to be dwelling on it. She has "dealt with" the remarks and is moving on. "I'm tired of talking about it. It's a new week," she told US.
What do you think of Elisabeth Hasselbeck's apology to Erin Andrews ... or lack thereof?
