Some of the things that Jessica Simpson says makes me think, This has to be a PR stunt, trying to play the "dumb blonde" card. And her recent appearances on The Tonight Show and Ellen only encouraged this thought.

Talking to Jay Leno last night, she admitted to being addicted to Nicorette gum, even though she's never smoked. "The first time I ever chewed a piece of Nicorette gum, one of my close friend's mother gave it to me," she said. "I think she thought she was giving me a piece of regular gum. I was chewing it and it was like a party in my mouth. It was like fireworks and 'Oh my god, I'm talking a million miles per hour and I love this gum and what kind of gum is this? I have to have this gum.'"

Wow.

And even with all of that chewing of sugary candy, she still doesn't have to brush her teeth every day. She told Ellen DeGeneres earlier today that she only brushes her teeth three times a week. Um, gross? "My teeth are so white and I don't like them to feel too slippery, but I do use Listerine and I do floss every day," Jessica said. "But I don't brush them every day. I'll use a shirt or something. I know it's gross but I always have fresh breath. It's really weird, but I have great breath."

Yes, T-shirts can definitely do the job of getting plaque off of your teeth.

She also said that she wasn't dating, but she was "mingling" and been able to keep it private thanks to what I can only picture as James Bond-type secret passageways leading out of her house. "I have ways in and out of my house and certain places that I go that are private just so I can have a normal life. I'm still out there and bring normal."

Thank you, Jess, for your consistently quirky behavior. We can always rely on you for a good chuckle.

Are you a fan of Jessica Simpson? Do you think she acts this way for publicity reasons?
