I can't believe I'm writing this because, really, I'm one of Tina Fey's biggest fans EVER. But I thought she was a mean girl when she hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend, particularly during her "Women's News" segment during Weekend Update.
Ordinarily, I think that everything Fey says is hilarious, relevant, and intelligent. But her shots at Bombshell McGee and Tiger Woods' mistresses just seemed cheap, tired, and downright mean. While attempting to defend some women (Sandra Bullock, Elin Nordegren), she ended up tearing other women down in the process. Tattoos, Hitler ... seriously, Tina? Much lesser comedians than you took those crude shots weeks ago.
And, there's something that rubs me the wrong way when women call other women "whores" and make fun of their appearance. Let's see here ... What does it remind me of? Oh right, HIGH SCHOOL.
And why did she continually leave the married men -- with the exception of Tiki Barber (now that was funny) -- out of her tirade against cheating?
Maybe I'm so used to Fey's self-deprecating jokes on 30 Rock (my favorite show on TV right now), that I was shocked to see that humor pointed elsewhere. Or maybe she simply went too far with her meanness on Saturday night.
What did you think of Fey's SNL performance?
