There's been a lot of talk about vampires lately, and frankly I’m just not on the New Moon bus. I'm just not a romance/tortured souls/dark-and-stormy-night kind of girl. I prefer my fiction funny and freaky, which is why I'm totally into Christopher Moore. Why am I mentioning this now? Because Bite Me!, the third book in his three-book vampire series, came out this month. And if it's anything like the first two, I'm in for a cherry-colored, plasma-filled, kinky-vampire-sex treat.

Instead of reading Twilight for the umpteenth time, why not give a new clan of vampires a try. Here's a quick round-up of the series to get you hooked:

In the first book, Bloodsucking Fiends, Jody gets shanghaied into the vampire lifestyle by a random attack. Suddenly transformed from a nine-to-five drone to a 9 p.m.-to-5 a.m. ghoul, she has a lot of adjusting to do. Enter C. Thomas Flood, who just thinks he's chatting up a hottie when he finds himself in way over his head -- with a vampire!

You Suck picks up where Bloodsucking Fiends leaves off. I hope it's not too much of a spoiler to say that Tommy's now a vampire too -- you kind of see it coming. So now that he can't be Jody's gatekeeper, what's a guy to do? Why, find a young goth who's thrilled to find there's such a thing as real vampires, of course. But uh-oh, who's this angry old vampire bent on destruction?

Bite Me! is the newest offering and closes the series. I don't want to go into too much detail about what happens, because it's almost impossible without multiple first-two-book spoilers. Suffice it to say the story is told from the POV of Abigail the goth; Tommy and Jody will be back; and, to quote the book, "The city of San Francisco is being stalked by a huge shaved vampire cat named Chet." Come on. How can you resist?
