Photo from Her Bad MotherCatherine Connors may not be a bad mother, but she plays one on her award-winning, internationally recognized blog, Her Bad Mother. The mother of two, Connors is a manifesto writing, movement starting, hilarious writer lady and contributing editor at BlogHer.
Here's what she's checking out in her spare time.
The mags:
The New Yorker, Wired, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Bust.
These are my paper-based addictions. (I actually do a little happy dance when I see The New Yorker in my mailbox. And if I see that David Sedaris or Malcolm Gladwell has contributed to the issue? I might actually hop in a circle. Yes, I am that much of a geek.)
On my iPhone:
I'm one of those people who swore, when the Kindle came out, that I would never, ever, ever read anything on a tablet that could be better read on paper (preferably at little cafe, while sipping espresso, of course.)
Then I got an iPhone, and I'm eating my words: I spend many an hour reading the New York Times, The Globe and Mail, and McSweeney's on my iPhone. And usually not at a cafe while drinking espresso, which is to say that I can more usually be found reading McSweeney's on my iPhone while huddled in my four year-old's dining room table fort, being pelted with Cheerios.
Books:
Michel de Montaigne's Essays (I'm a recovering philosopher who still needs a regular fix); Cynthia Leitich Smith's Eternal (a YA love story between a vampire and an angel. I'm still a teenage girl at heart. Also, Twilight, whah?); The Little Prince (with my daughter, we're working through some stuff about death.)
On the World Wide Web:
Cracked.com. Yes, I read Cracked. That teenage girl I mentioned above? She battles it out with a tween boy.
